Hungary coat of armsTour Hungary and experience a country like no other. Situated in the very heart of Europe, this kidney-shaped country can claim a matchless place in the continent's spirit. The land that is now Hungary has been occupied as far back as 350,000 years ago as was established when a Homo Erectus fossil nicknamed “Samu” was uncovered in Vértesszőlős. Its history under its present name dates to the early Middle Ages. As such, this country is a virtual treasure trove of unique sights and architectural elements that will enrapture the minds of any visitors.

Castlt Hill in BudaThe Danube River forming two separate sections of the city divides Budapest, the capital of Hungary. While “Buda”, the hilly side, is essentially steeped in history, “Pest”, the flat side, symbolizes all things present and is home to Hungary’s Parliament. The castle district of Buda boasts Mathias Church and the Fisherman’s Bastion, the exquisite Royal palace courtyards, intriguing castle museums and finally, the Citadel, which was built during the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy on Gellert Hill that rises majestically over the Danube providing you with a spectacular view of the city. From Buda, you can reach the Pest side of the city by way of the Margaret Bridge. In the more modern Pest you’ll find Heroes Square where statues of the most important heroes in Hungarian history can be viewed. You can shop till you drop at the capital’s largest covered market, see the magnificent building of Parliament or walk the promenade to the city center where you can visit St. Stephen’s Basilica.

Esztergom HungaryNo tour of Hungary would be complete without a tour along the Danube and an excursion into Hungary’s history. This tour stops in 3 towns; the first is Visegrád. As you stroll on 750-year-old stone walkways and take in the formal Royal Residence of King Matthias Corvinus all against a backdrop of the pristine Danube Valley, you will get a true sense of Hungary in the Middle Ages. The second is Esztergom, which is considered the northern gate of Budapest and is one of the oldest cities in Hungary. This was the former capital of the country and houses Hungary’s largest and most impressive Basilica. Above the winding Danube and surrounded by majestic mountains, this beautiful Basilica rules the landscape. The third and final stop is Szentendre, a small artists’ village in the Baroque style. This pristine, natural environment is where the Danube meets the Pilis Mountains and where a smattering of medieval ruins can be explored along with narrow winding streets hosting shops and museums.

There are dozens of excursions to keep you enthralled throughout this truly authentic land. Explore the countryside and leisurely view landscapes and unique portraits of history including Zsambek and its late Roman style abbey ruins or Tok, a traditional Hungarian village with floral decorated rural houses and flowing fields of sunflowers. The palace at Gödöllő is another fine example of what Hungary has to offer. This was the summer residence of Sissi, the beloved Queen of the Hungarians whose formal name was Elizabeth of Bavaria.

Hungary Jewish heritage toursAside from all these superb excursions, Hungary offers up an entire host of sights that highlight the Jewish culture as well. If you are of the Jewish faith, we can escort you to the deeply moving Shoes Holocaust Memorial, the Tree of Life Park built on the site of mass graves of those killed by the Nazis, the Great Synagogue, the Wallenberg monument and much more.

These are just a few examples of what Hungary has to offer. If you’re considering spending a holiday here, let us know and we’ll work with you to create the ideal itinerary at a rate you can afford. We don’t dictate what will be included in any tour, but rather we work hand-in-hand with our clients in order to outline the most perfect experience for each person or individual group. Want to see other sights in Hungary inside or outside of the major cities or off the beaten path? If you dream it up, we can accommodate it.
