Slovenia mapTour Slovenia and experience a country that in global terms is young after only having gained its independence in 1991; however the ancestors of the Slovenes have been established in the present-day territory since the 6th century. This country keeps a perfect balance with its ability to offer up priceless, aged landmarks and sights as well as all things natural from the azure Mediterranean to the Alpine peaks and the Pannonian lowlands to the softly rounded Dolenjska hills. Slovenia has been generously endowed with a rich legacy in nature, culture, historical and architectural heritage.

ljubljana dragonLjubljana, the capital, is an impressive mix of ancient history and a combination of a bustling and thriving metropolis. This spectacular city proudly showcases a full range of sights and objects from its 5,000 year history including: remains of the Roman city of Emona, the Old Town with its medieval castle and Baroque facades, decorative portals, picturesque bridges and the inspiring Tivoli park. How about visiting the spot were Jason and the Argonauts slew the fabled dragon? See this and more amongst the spectacular array of landmarks, bridges and squares that make up this enthralling city.

Bled CastleWithin its borders, Slovenia has no shortage of captivating and imposing castles dotting the countryside. One of the most breathtaking is Bled Castle. Perched atop a steep cliff rising 130 meters above the glacial Lake Bled, this ancient marvel’s terraces offer spectacular views of the emerald green lake and its small island featuring the 15th century Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Mary. No visit to this astonishing setting would be complete without a serene crossing to the island on one of Bled’s typical “pletna” boats. We can also take you on a guided trail tour along the narrow bridges above nearby Vintgar Gorge, which offers breathtaking views and ends in a stunning waterfall. Predjama Castle on the other hand, appears to be carved from the limestone of which it is nestled while at the same time, looks as if it is rising up to emerge directly from the caves underneath. For more than 700 years, it has existed as a sentinel: powerful, defiant and impregnable

Church of St. DanielJust east of the center of Slovenia lies the city of Celje, which affords visitors the opportunity to see one of the country’s most beautiful churches; the Abbey Church of St. Daniel. This majestic building dates from the 14th century and boasts magnificent frescoes, tombstones and even a 15th century carved wooden Pieta. Celje also features a distinctive museum housing a total of 18 skulls belonging to long ago deceased nobles. Among other things, this museum's main focus is on Celeia and the Counts of Celje.

Predjama CastleOutdoor enthusiasts will be spoiled for choices when deciding on where to start as the amount of natural sights available to explore in Slovenia can be overwhelming. Some of the more unique stops include: the limestone wonders of Postojna and the corridors of the Postojna Caves. With over 12 miles of passages, nearly 80 different species of cave animals and areas literally busting with stalagmites, it is clear why this stop is one of Slovenia’s most popular attractions. Jump on a cave train and uncover this exotic world and you may even spy some graffiti from the XIII century. The natural wonderland and blissful playground of Lake Bohinj is another enthralling location. There are endless possibilities for hiking and climbing and you can’t miss the spectacular Savica Waterfall with its 250 foot drop to the river Sava.

These are just a few examples of what Slovenia has to offer. If you’re considering a journey here, let us know and we’ll work with you to create the ideal itinerary at a rate you can afford. We don’t dictate what will be included in any tour, but rather we work hand-in-hand with our clients in order to outline the most perfect experience for each person or group. Want to see other sights in Slovenia inside or outside of the major cities or off the beaten path? If you dream it up, we can accommodate it.
